Well, it is New Years Eve and this past year has had great news stories and I m going to recap a few and offer my brilliant, biased, and smart opinions to these “Great” news stories.

The Gabby Giffords story.
I remember as if it were almost a year ago. I got called into work early with the voice on the other end of the phone saying “Can you come in early? We have 15 GSW’s (gun shot wounds) coming in.” My response, “Why don’t ya just tell me you’re short-handed and need the help?”
His response, “NO! We really have that many coming in!”

And that started my new year. It was a madhouse day and I, being former law enforcement, felt sad for the victims but yet elated that Jared Lee Loughner, the gunman, was caught. Everyone in my department was touched by these events and the aftereffects continue to this day. I will not elaborate any more on that.

I will say that Jared Lee Loughner is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He was caught in flagrante delicto and will hopefully pay the ultimate cost for his idiocy. Unfortunately, the justice system is taking into account his mental health and want him mentally fit for trial. This is where the justice system is flawed. Who cares if he is mentally fit for trial. HE WAS CAUGHT IN THE ACT. Nuff said.

President Obama doesn’t change anything.

Speaking of the justice system; how about the National Defense Authorization Act for 2012???

From what I can decipher, this act for 2012 allows the US Government to detain “Terrorists” for an indefinite period of time. That’s all well and good, but it also applies to US citizens as well. So, my ultimate question is this…Where have our constitutional rights gone? I most certainly hope the US Supreme Court trashes this bullshit to the point of making Obama and all of Congress cry while they are sitting in the corner in time out. The 6th Amendment to the constitution states, “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.”

So I say, good luck on detaining US citizens on grounds of terrorism and then holding them indefinitely. I will also add my belief that if the US wants to enforce this “Act” then the only way they should do it is with foreign terrorists, NOT US CITIZENS. This whole “Act” stinks and needs to be vetoed, overruled, and burned before marshal law ensues.

Speaking of terrorists, President Obama claims victory for the killing of Bin Laden. Umm….okay. I pretty sure that putting your name on an executive order to send in SEAL teams with super-duper stealth helicopters allows one to claim victory over the death of Bin Laden. I am glad the man is dead but I would have been happier if Hillary Clinton would have advised the nation on this one. Because lets face it, Obama only took over the War on Terror from Bush. And, just like Bush, Obama is an idiot.

Bin Laden was killed in his compound in Pakistan. Pakistan is supposedly a US ally and they (Pakistan) had no idea he was there?! BULLSHIT! Pakistan was playing the role towards the US while receiving funds and Muslamic promises from Bin Laden. So, I am glad we violated Pakistan airspace to find that scumbag and personally, we should sever all ties with Pakistan. Because in all honesty what would we lose? It’s not like Pakistan is vacation destination for US citizens or we need their oil (wait a minute, that’s how the Gulf War started).

President Obama changes nothing.

And more from the middle east.
Muammar Gaddafi is beaten and killed by his own people. Reagan should of had Gaddafi’s ass targeted on tax day in 1986 that way the American people would haven’t to hear or watch any more news about Libya and their civil war.

And, since I am on a roll with deaths, how about that Kim Jong-il?
The guy is the leader of one of the last communist countries in the world and succession goes to his unknown youngest son?! How come I see one of 2 possible future outcomes of North Korea?
1) Their economy fails and they turn to a capitalist system.
2) South Korea invades the North and unifies the whole country. The North then parties like a 2008 Democratic Presidential Victory Election Party because they now can watch re-run episodes of “Friends”.

I personally see the former happening instead. Because lets face it, this young kid is going to want an IPad, an IPhone, a PS3, the latest Lady Gaga CD, etc. and there is no way he is going to get all he wants unless he goes Capitalist and strikes up a trade agreement with the US.

President Obama changes nothing.

And now, onto the orient…well, kind of.
Japanese earthquake and tsunami. No smart ass comments here. Nothing can be done about Mother Nature when she decides to get pissed off. But, I am sure someone will chime in about the nuclear reactor spill. I will agree that that just downright sucks. And since Mother Nature wanted to be pissy, Japan and the world have to live with a nuclear reactor leak.

Finally, last but not least…The US declares that the war in Iraq is over!

Pack your bags troops, you’re coming home.

Maybe now, after years of war, the powers that be will open their eyes and realize, that to make our country better means that we do NOT have to interfere with other countries politics, religion, beliefs, or way of life. The US has done enough world-policing. If another dictator wants to buy, produce, or use weapons of mass destruction, it is most certainly NOT the US’s place to oust them out of power. In fact, the US should become a “Switzerland” and remain neutral.

President Obama changes nothing, not even his underwear. He should though, as I am pretty sure he is NOT going to be re-elected in 2012. Even the Democrats are wavering against their own choice.

Anyway folks, have a safe and happy New Years Eve. And I will see you in 2012.
